A designer with twenty years of experience, the majority of which have been acquired in India, with a focus on stand-out interiors, textile design, branding solutions, and home accessory design.

Educated to Masters level, Eleanor Stanton Ghosh (Ellie) is a firm believer in the tools taught, that everything should start, if possible, with paper and pen. Ellie’s journey into designing spaces is inspired through her initial training in textiles, of how edges, corners, and hard structures have a beautiful relationship with the tactility and soft application of the hand and fabric. A creator of space with traditional vernacular architecture, importantly being a student of the craft and the symbiotic application with a designer's taught detail. Along with and the vast exposure to the capacities of colour and fabric.

After graduating from Glasgow School of Art, Ellie traveled across the globe with her craft. It was her Masters in Textile Digital Printing that finally exposed her to the rapidly growing Indian market. She expanded her skills to marketing, communications, and sales within the textile business in India, with an aim to interface with clients across the globe and interpret their needs. Crossing borders honed her experience and led to her developing a sensibility that is reflected in all her work.

In 2005, she made India her permanent home and expanded her portfolio to interior design. She works with a bespoke luxury travel company, Shakti Himalaya which is spread across the Himalayas in Ladakh, Sikkim, and Uttarakhand. It was here that she combines her appetite for style with the sustainable crafts that flourished in rural India. Her approach to her work moves to a creative expression that allows commissions for local artisans who work with indigenous materials for the remote locations that she furnishes. She works tirelessly with local communities and families to bring about a meaningful change in their lives. Ellie has a strong desire to revive and integrate local crafts and materials into her projects. The portfolio includes fifteen outstanding properties in the Himalayas.

But finally, it is her commitment, hands-on approach, and empathy to the needs of her clients and vendors alike that have given Ellie the title ‘Designerdidi’ across the mountains. ‘Didi’ in Hindi means ‘older sister’, an affectionate title that best expresses her approach to her work and personality.
